Description

In Happily Inc, love means never having to say “I do”…

Wedding coordinator Renee Grothen isn’t meant for marriage. Those who can, do. Those who can’t, plan. But she never could have planned on gorgeous, talented thriller writer Jasper Dembenski proposing—a fling. And the attraction between them is too strong for Renee to resist. Now she can have her no-wedding cake…and eat it, too.

After years in the military, Jasper is convinced he’s too damaged for relationships. So a flirtation—and more—with fiery, determined Renee is way too good to pass up…until his flame becomes his muse.

Renee is an expert at averting every crisis. But, as feelings become more serious, is she finally ready to leap into the one thing that can never be controlled: love?

There were many unrealistic storylines and the end was predictable.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own. The Review The fifth book in the Happily Inc. series, (sixth if you include book #2.5), author Susan Mallery has done a masterful job of creating a connected storyline across multiple books and characters, while also creating a wholly unique story that allows for anyone to jump into the narrative. While the cast of characters of this novel all stem from previous books, the protagonists take center stage in the story as these two people trying to escape their past come together in ways neither one of them expected. The complexity of the characters makes this love story bloom much more than the traditional romance tale. Taking the time to explore both Jasper and Renee’s pasts that have influenced how they go about their relationship really depend the readers connection with both the book and the characters. The theme of finding love and overcoming that feeling of being “broken” played out eloquently throughout the novel, and the author did an amazing job of incorporating the atmosphere of love and romance that has become associated with this series into the character’s overall struggles. The Verdict Beautifully written, expertly crafted and emotionally driven. Author Susan Mallery has created a wholly original tale that keeps the overall setting and story of the Happily Inc. series in line while giving readers two protagonists that are relatable, honest and emotionally driven, giving readers an evenly paced read that will have them rooting for these two to overcome the odds and find solace with one another. Another great weekend read! It was heartwarming with the usual complications, but in the end love wins. A nice addition to the Happily Inc series.

What a great read. What starts off as a friends with benefits type of arrangement becomes something that Jasper nor Renee expected. Seeing how their story unfolds and the electricity between the characters comes to life is so entertaining. I also love seeing old characters coming back into the story if even for a second. Definitely a 5 star read.

Meant to Be Yours is another beautiful story in the Happily Inc series & can be read as a stand alone. Susan Mallery always creates unique but very real characters & Renee & Jasper are two of my favorites from this series. I won't give away the plot but I will say that their HEA is very sweet & heartfelt. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I feel like a need to preface this review with an explanation. I love Susan Mallery’s books. I’ve been reading them for years. In fact, she’s one of the contemporary romance authors I read when I switched sub genres years ago. I enjoy her humor, I like the pacing her couples are given to get to their HEA and I like how she writes their intimate moments...not behind closed doors, but certainly not overly graphic (although I read that stuff, too) I really liked Jasper! Does he understand women? Not so much, but he’s willing to learn and he’s not afraid to apologize (which he has to do a few times). He’s honest, he’s thoughtful and he’s sincere. My issues are with Renee. She’s high maintenance in that she’s extremely reactionary outside of her professional life. I get that she’s been hurt and is gun shy. But in the grand scheme of things, many others have been through way worse than she has. Not going to spoil plot points, but, her “secret” that se keeps hidden from friends...get over yourself! It’s not earth shattering, it’s not horrible and it should not have had the impact it does on both her own personality and her relationship. It’s not a bad book at all. I enjoyed touching base with previous Happily Inc couples and seeing where everyone is at in their lives. But for me, I couldn’t enjoy the main couple because Renee drove me loco! 4 stars for Jasper but Renee pushed it down a whole star for me.
