This novel offered a break from the heavier police and detective novels I read. Interesting plot but the characters’ actions are somewhat unbelievable. It was hard to empathize with the protagonist, Agnes Lockwood, who came across as bossy and obstinate. This isn’t a series I’d continue reading.

I thought it was great the way the old friends met up and ended up solving a crime together and really getting along so well.
  • This book got me back into reading

This book was the first one I picked up on a suggestion list and it got me back into reading. The pace, plot, and characters sucked me in and I remember how much I love and enjoy reading. Just purchased the next book in the series and can’t wait to read it.

Fast paced mystery with interesting characters.
  • Interminable

Only my insatiable mystery-lover quest to find out “who done it” kept me reading this overly long book. Agnes (one of the most ugly names in the English language) was so obnoxious and pushy. The budding romance between her and the chief inspector was not credible. All in all a waste of time. Also, the countless unnecessary use of commas (in the middle of sentences!) was extremely off putting.
