Description

An instant bestseller from Templeton Prize–winning author Francis S. Collins, The Language of God provides the best argument for the integration of faith and logic since C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity.

It has long been believed that science and faith cannot mingle. Faith rejects the rational, while science restricts us to a life with no meaning beyond the physical. It is an irreconcilable war between two polar-opposite ways of thinking and living. Written for believers, agnostics, and atheists alike, The Language of God provides a testament to the power of faith in the midst of suffering without faltering from its logical stride. Readers will be inspired by Collin’s personal story of struggling with doubt, as well as the many revelations of the wonder of God’s creation that will forever shape the way they view the world around them.

Mr. Collins spoke at VCU graduation and peaked my interest. Head of humane gnome project a Christian? His book, although I had faith helped me to explain some facts of humanity I could not relate to. In all, this book, is by far a great read and an excellent resource for Christians and non Christians alike. I say if you are searching for why and how you are here and what your purpose in life is,this book is for you.

Skeptics of faith as well as skeptics of evolution should read this extremely well-written book. It's simply stunning how brilliantly and plainly Dr. Collins lays out so many of the views held by top scientists within the last two centuries, as well as their critics. He steers well clear of marginalizing anyone or any group - no matter their differing views and beliefs. Instead, he thoughtfully - and many times exhaustively - offers his erudite analysis on many of today's controversies that are being played out in the ongoing war of science versus faith. I believe any open-minded reader will come away, like myself, highly enlightened. I excitedly intend on re-reading as it contains so much to digest.

This is one of the best books I have read concerning the synthesis of faith and science straight from the head of the Human Genome Project that uncovered our entire human genetic code. He does a wonderful job discussing the overwhelming evidence for evolution and how it possible to believe in science and believe in God without any intellectual conflict. For those of faith this book explains how to incorporate new scientific findings in your world view and for the scientists it shows how faith can still be rational.
