It's true that if you have seen the anime or read the manga much of this will likely be old news to you. However, if you just watched the anime then there are some insights into the manga that you will see explored within this book. Also, while there are many facts in here that veteran-fans will know, there are also some other situations in which the author's position might get you to think of it in a different light (forgive the unintentional pun). In short, this isn't necessarily an indispensable guide for seasoned fans of the show, but it's a nice addition to your library of Death Note materials. It is also a nice reference guide should you for whatever reason be unable to find the information on the Internet or don't feel like looking.

When I saw the cover I was expecting behind the scenes info, like how the idea for Death Note came to be, where the inspiration for the characters came from, ect. Instead I get 163 pages of stuff I already knew. Basically this book is more for people who've never actually watched the show, because if you have watched it you know pretty much everything stated in the pages. Good book for beginers, but if you are a die-hard fan of the series don't waste your time.
