Description

A collection of hilarious and compelling insights and anecdotes, diary entries, poems, 'true' facts and cartoons on travel from The Rick Gervais Show’s unlikely star, Karl Pilkington.

This is the travel book for people who don't particularly like travelling. It’s Pilkington with a suitcase, occasionally with his passport, more often with a bemused suspicion of anything vaguely exotic, and always with an observant eye for the disappointments, tedium, and general absurdity of being a tourist abroad and at home. From staring at Mount Vesuvius in case it erupts, to enduring the horrors of a Lanzarote nudist beach, to exploring the curiosities to be seen in the world's weirdest museum, Pilkington’s stories are told with his inimitable deadpan humor. And they’re always interspersed with fond reflections on life back in England, from Salford joy riders to what his girlfriend's mum and dad have for dinner on a Thursday (it's chops and veg, in case you're wondering).

I laughed so hard I had an asthma attack. Really. First time in my life I had an asthma attack from laughing. Buying Karl's other book right now. I guess I will be reading it with my inhaler close by this time.

After years of listening to Ricky Gervais' podcasts, I was expecting to know this book inside and out. There were bits here and there but getting the full stories and many others had me crying! On to Karlology.

Karl is by far the most interesting idiot savant in the world. I cannot believe he is not more famous for his special ways...Ricky Gervais has introduced a real gem of comedy to this world, and anyone who experiences ANYTHING through Karl's eyes, will be truly changed forever. Cheers.

This book was very funny along with karlology. The latter of the two I find to be funnier but both are written in the same manner and pull the same "duh" and "oh geesh" moments.
