Description

The Trial (original German title: Der Process, [1] later Der Prozess, Der Proceß and Der Prozeß) is a novel written by Franz Kafka in 1914 and 1915 but not published until 1925. One of Kafka's best-known works, it tells the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor the reader.

  • Wonderful absurdity

Kafka writes in a delightful style, and follows the absurd situatations in which “K” finds himself with hilarious observations. Full of colorful characters. This is an easy and fun read, and will give the reader a deep understanding of the term “Kafkaesque”

I had imagined a macabre courtroom with stern officials and never ending accusations. Instead, this trial is much more insidious for never taking place but being omnipresent. I was surprised by the ending, but it might be the only possible outcome.

Great book but this must've been translated by a 6 year old.

Disturbing. A metaphor for real life
  • The definition of Kafkaesque/dystopian

A must read for anyone to know the dark Kafkaesque scam side of any identity system devoid of soul and personality like a police, justice system or military institution of discipline. A bit obsolete for the society of social media control replacing it today, but could be extrapolated.

It’s hard to understand how this book was considered one of the greatest of its era..... Opening this book was a daily battle. I’ve read college textbooks better than this. I really can’t overstate how bad this book is. Just a collection of over detail that really doesn’t tie into the story whatsoever. I usually have a high a turn around time on books but this one took me a couple of months because I dreaded reading it. If you’re thinking about reading this book, do yourself a favor and don’t. I’m elated to be done with it.
