Description

Dinosaur Lake by Kathryn Meyer Griffith
An ancient predator has been reborn in the caves beneath Crater Lake
…and it’s hungry.
Ex-cop Henry Shore has been Chief Park Ranger at Crater Lake National Park for eight years and he likes his park and his life the way it’s been. Safe. Tranquil. Predictable. But he’s about to be tested in so many ways. First the earthquakes begin…people begin to go missing…then there’s some mysterious water creature that’s taken up residence in the caves below Crater Lake and it’s not only growing in size, it’s aggressive and cunning…and very hungry.
And it’s decided it likes human beings. To eat.
And it can come up onto land.
So Henry, with the help of his wife, Ann; a young paleontologist named Justin; and a band of brave men, must not only protect his park and his people from the monster but somehow find where it lives and destroy it…before it can kill again. ***

This book keeps you wanting to read it. You put it down and you look forward to picking it up again. It’s more a real life story about a park ranger (family, emotions, leadership, friendship, respect) with a dinosaur as part of the story than it was a story about a dinosaur and all the destruction it causes… but you’re always waiting for the dinosaur to reappear! Nice job!! Well written!!

I will say that the book was quite captivating. I found it very difficult to put it down in order to pursue other tasks at hand. Had it not been for the frequent introjections and the occasional grammatical error, I would’ve given this book a five. Great plot, great progression and good character development.

Quite an adventure. When I start reading, it’s usually to help me unwind and I tell myself that I will just read a few pages to make the book last. I will say that is impossible with this book. Once I started, it wasn’t just a couple pages at a time, it was a couple chapters at a time. At my age that is a strain on the old body. However I can truthfully say that I will be seeking out the rest of these. Who knows, maybe if my grandson makes it here for a while we can share this new series.
