Description

She saves him from a fire, then steals his heart without even trying. When white hot attraction kicks in, sparks fly!
Francey Cordaro is a dedicated firefighter, devoted daughter and a loyal friend who has made her way in a man’s world. She rejects material goods, doesn’t give a whit about her striking looks and focuses on saving lives, spending time with her family and friends, working out and playing poker with the guys. Until she meets Alex Templeton.
A wealthy businessman, Alex is the epitome of success in every area of his life. A decent man, he returns home to run the family company when his father takes ill and his brother loses his way. What he can’t control is his reaction to the sexy firefighter who dragged him from near death. She’s gorgeous, fun-loving and challenges him at every turn. But she refuses a relationship with him.
With differences that rival champagne vs. beer, uptown galas vs. karaoke bars, and the world of high finance vs. the reality of walking into burning buildings, their relationship seems doomed. Or is it?
With a secondary reunion romance as fiery as Alex and Francey’s, and cameo appearances of readers’ favorite firefighters from Hidden Cove, as well as Shay’s trademark tense and exciting rescue scenes, this book will pull on your heartstrings and make you route for these very likable characters.
Be sure to read the rest of the Rockford Fire Department: RISKING IT ALL, CODE OF HONOR and NEVER FAR AWAY, as well as all of the Hidden Cove Firefighters series.
*** NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Kathryn Shay spent five years riding fire trucks with a large city fire department, eating in their firehouses and interviewing hundreds of America's Bravest.

Excellent handling of a common, difficult subject - relationships amongst first responder, savior-types. Just like with many medical professionals, it’s hard for these people to find work-family balance. Both the job and family life require about the same level of dedication and commitment. It’s like having two families. Very interesting book, and also romantic, etc.

As an independent woman myself I easily relate to Francesca and the position she was in with Alex, I enjoyed this story and actually took an advice or two from it.

I am a big lover of fireman stories, and this was a wonderful story of a female firefighter. This book has it all, romance, true camaraderie of the firemen, true to life firefighting, plenty of family dynamics and a little bit of a mystery. Plus you get two romances in one story. Francey, female firefighter rescues Alex, rich, sexy white collar from a fire. She gets injured in the fire. After they meet up, their is an instant attraction between the two, but Francey is only willing to be friends. She doesn't want to make the same mistakes in life that her parents did. There is a lot of give and take, push and pull to make this relationship work. Great guest appearance from the Hidden Cove Fire Dept. Loved this book!! Great character development. Looking forward to reading the rest in the series.

Francey Cordaro saves Alex Templeton in a fire and in the process gets injured herself. Alex and Francey personally meet while both recovering in the hospital. It was quite a shock for Alex to realize his life saving firefighter is a very attractive woman. They both feel the instant attraction. Alex does his best to convince Francey into have a relationship with him. Francey fights her feelings for Alex as he comes from the world her mother lives in. She finally agrees to friendship and they become very close that way. I was very hooked by this book. I was felt I was right there at the edge of my seat in some parts. This book got intense. I'm glad that we got an in-depth look at our Hero's family/relationship life. It can't be easy knowing each day that your love one might come in harms way doing their job. This book is very well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for book 2!
